Morning Grace – Kalk Bay Harbour Wall
Early morning at Kalk Bay harbour, and the sky can't make up its mind. Heavy slate-grey clouds roll in over False Bay, then a gap opens and the sun pours through, sending long golden rays down onto the water and laying a shimmering path across the bay.
The little red-and-cream lighthouse stands on the corner of the old stone harbour wall, as it has for generations of fishermen heading out at first light. In front, the harbour water lies calm and glassy green, while the gold and silver sky stretches out to the faint coastline on the far horizon.
It's one of those quiet, almost holy moments that make the Cape's fishing villages feel timeless. It brings calm, light and a touch of drama to any wall, and is a lovely reminder of Kalk Bay for anyone who has walked that wall at dawn.
